Description:Aerial view taken by R.A.F. 42 Operational Training Unit.
In the lower half of the photograph can be seen the River Sow, Tenterbanks and Victoria Park (the tennis courts can be seen on the right). To the bottom left is the Broad Eye windmill. In the top left is the Chell Road gasometer.
Taken nearly three months after the end of the war in Europe, it is interesting to note how few cars there are on the roads. Petrol rationing was first imposed at the onset of World War II in September 1939 and continued five years after the war, ending in May 1950.
