Description:Gilt badge from the Ash Trees lodge of the National Order of Free Gardeners, based at Four Ashes, Enville. Maker: George Tutill, 83 City Road, London.

The Free Gardeners were a friendly society founded in Scotland in the mid 17th century. As with other similar organisations, their aims were to share secrets of their profession and mutual aid. The charitable and mutual help role became dominant in the 19th century.
