Description:Rev. Richard Hurd (1720-1808), Bishop of Lichfield & Coventry 1775-1781 and Bishop of Worcester 1781-1808. He was born at Congreve, near Penkridge where his father was a farmer. He was educated at Brewood Grammar School and at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He lived chiefly at Hartlebury Castle in Worcestershire, where he built a fine library which remains today.
