Description:Sir Matthew Hale (1609-1676) of Hales Hall was born in Alderley, Glioucestershire. He was a judge, and was Lord Chief Justice 1671-1676. He was also Member of Parliament for Gloucestershire 1654-1656 and for Oxford University in 1659.
