Description:William Mainwaring (1737-1812) was the second son of Edward Mainwaring of Whitmore Hall. He was Member of Parliament for Middlesex from 1784 and chairman of the Middlesex and Westminster Quarter Sessions for a similar period. In 1794 he became a member of the Hudson's Bay Company Committee and was appointed Governor in 1807.
