Description:A three-quarter length portrait of the Rev. Samuel Butler (1774-1839). He was Headmaster of Shrewsbury School and in 1836 became Bishop of Lichfield and Coventry. An engraving by William Ward, ARA, after a painting by Thomas Kirkby.
