Description:A view of Carter Street. On the left is Greenwoods (Dorothy Perkins in 2009), then 'The Valeting Service' dry cleaners. The gap now passes through to Saddlers Yard. To its right is the White Bear Cafe run by Harrison's Caterers. Prior to the cafe it had been Charlie Gerard's used furniture shop and was originally The White Bear Inn. To the right of the cafe is H.M. Shaw's record shop where you could buy almost anything. Mrs Shaw was the wife of Ben Shaw the Carnival King. Next is Willisford' jewellers (still there in 2009), and far right can be glimpsed Mr. Morton's gentleman's hairdressers. Unseen is Smith's the Butchers and Elkes bakery shop on the corner with High Street. In 2009, Greenwood's is now Emma's Cook Shop and the Valeting Sevice is a takeaway.
