Description:The shop on the extreme left, (Number 40), is Harry Deville's Grocers. After the entrance to Walkers' Timber Yard is Thomas Adams Motterams Hardwear, No.42. A lady from the town remembers that no matter what you asked for, the proprietor always had it, although you always had to wait some time whilst he found it! The shop on the extreme right is Beathams's Art and Stationery shop, which was run by sisters whose brother was Art Master at the High School. Most older ex-pupils remember buying their stationery from there: the shop is now demolished.
