Description:Pupils and teachers at Calton School in the early 1950s. Building work began on the village school in 1875, but it was not until 20 June 1881 that the first batch of sixteen children aged between 3 and 7 were admitted. The school closed in July 1980 and the building is now used as the village Memorial Hall.
