Description:During the 1840s two railways were constructed through the park at Shugborough. To minimise the damage fences and trees were used to hide the trains from view. The tunnel and bridges were designed to be very grand, in keeping with the park's classical monuments.
This postcard is of the bridge where the Trent Valley railway line crosses Lichfield Drive. The figures on the plinths are of lions and seahorses, supporters of the Earl of Lichfield's coat of arms.
