Description:Advertisement for Bent's A.I. Winter Ale. Made of card and designed to stand on a public house bar or table. It was formerly in either the Albion Inn or the Hop Pole Inn in Stafford.

Bent's Brewery was established in Newcastle-under-Lyme in the 1790s by William Bent. The business remained in Newcastle until 1936, when manufacture transferred to Liverpool.

The company expanded in the late nineteenth century to include the J. Salmon Brewery. In 1902 Thomas Montgomery's new brewery, on Mount Road in Stone, was purchased. This building (pictured) had only been built in 1889.

Over the years the Stone site was altered and enlarged; it became one of the most modern breweries in the Midlands. During the Second World War the brewery was running day and night to compensate for the bombing of the Liverpool branch.

In 1967 Bents became part of Bass Brewery. The Stone site was gradually run down and closed in 1972.
