Description:These buildings, now an Indian restaurant, belonged to Roebuck Farm.
During the Civil War Parliamentary troops guarded the river crossing at Wolseley Bridge, prior to the battle of Hopton Heath in 1643. When the farmer's wife opened a cafe here in the 1930s she named it Cromwell House, after the leader of the Parliamentarians.
Caroline Thomas has kindly provided some additional information: 'My family lived here. They were dairy farmers, and my great aunt Louisa Dunford, nee Hurst ,opened the cafe. My mother was Mary Hurst, Louisa's niece. She was known as Aunt Lou'.
