Description:The 24 employees of John Hills & Sons Nursery eho had completed at least 25 years service. From left to right, with the years of service shown in brackets:-
Front row (seated): Levi Wildes (32), James Jenkinson (43), Richard Jenkinson (56), Henry Moss (60), John Jenkinson (58), Charles Boulton (44).
Centre row: Fredrick J. Mayer (40), Samuel Boulton (44), William Leese (38), Henry J. Leese (29), George Leese (26), Richard Hawkins (37), George Capewell (41), William Moss (46), Rupert Moss (42), Joseph Foulkes (37).
Back row: Eli Smith (25), Thomas Moss (36), William Hawkins (27), Ernest Plant (28), Israel Stanier (33), John Brookes (26), Edward Moss (36), Henry Leese (26).

In about 1849, John and Elijah Hill purchased land at Spot Acre, near Fulford in order to set up their nursery business there. John Hill and Sons Nursery eventually occupied about 800 acres around Spot Acre and Moddershall, before closing in 1990.
