Date:20th of April 1795

Description:Of crucial importance to local pottery manufacturers was the price of packaging.

While the price of wares could be agreed and standardised, the price of straw and crates for transportation was out of their hands:

"Our crate men here have all come to resolution to raise their crates from Saturday night last..."

In this letter to Enoch Wood, seven Cobridge manufacturers request a meeting to discuss what should be done about a sudden rise in the price of crates.
