Description:In July 1831, rumours were rife that Josiah Wedgwood II was to stand for election in a joint campaign with one of two candidates, Heathcote or Davenport.
Neutrality
Wedgwood felt that it was necessary to underline his "most perfect neutrality" in an address to the people of Hanley and Shelton.
Here, William Ridgway, the Chairman of Wedgwood's committee, issues a notice to make this declaration official.
