Description:Burnisher's glass fibre brush.

The tool consists of many glass fibres bound with tape and is roughly 5cm in length.

Used on ware with gold decoration.

The gold would be rubbed with a tool like this to give it a brilliant finish.

Taken from a collection of tools belonging to Mrs Edith Finney, born Toft (1884-1979), who worked at Crown Staffs, Paragon China and then Crown Staffs until her retirement in 1962.

The donor, a relative of Toft, vividly remembers her coming home from work and removing glass fibres from her fingers after using a brush like this.

Taken from the Gladstone Pottery Museum Tools Collection.

This object is now part of the collections at Stoke-on-Trent Museums.
