Description:The house on the left with dormer windows was Grovesnor House, which belonged to the Grovesnor family. The building was later used as the workhouse, but was later demolished and replaced by a school. The school building is now a community centre, the Grovesnor Centre.

The archway has since been demolished; past the arch on the left was Mrs Stacey's sweet shop. The housing on the left is still in existence, although Yates' shop is now a private residence.

The shop on the right, with the bay windows, is now a Chinese restaurant. Beyond the shop, just out of sight, is the Duke's Head public house.
