Date:25th of August 1953

Description:An unidentified Royal Scot 4-6-0 locomotive passes Longport station with a Manchester to Euston service during summer 1953.

Longport had a level crossing at the south end of the platforms.

After the death of two youths hit by a train during bad weather in the 19th century, it was decided that a bridge should be built to carry the road.

It was used in conjunction with the level crossing for many years.
