Description:Pottery factory interior showing a man hand-engraving a design on a flat copper plate. The copper plate would then be inked and used to make a paper transfer of the design. The design would then be applied to the surface of ware from the transfer. Taken at Minton's Ltd., London Road, Stoke-on-Trent.

This was highly skilled job.

The engraver's name is George Ridgway. He was the head engraver.
