Description:View of a cratemaking company yard. In the foreground is the company truck and the cratemakers.

The long hazel rods used in crate making can be seen in the background, alongside some finished crates.

The finished crates were used by pot banks to safely transport pottery from their factories.

Taken at W. Shenton Cratemaker & Cooper, Lower Spring Road, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.

The company ceased making crates in the 1950s.

Taken from the Gladstone Pottery Museum Photographic Collection.
