Description:At the head of the bullock, which is about to be slaughtered, is Samuel Atkin in his white smock. At the rear end of the beast is Samuel's son Albert who later married Nellie Smith, the daughter of a butcher who kept a shop at Little Haywood.
Albert can be seen wearing a leather apron with a knife pouch and sharpening steel hanging from his belt. The pole axe, on which he is leaning, was a primitive implement for slaughtering animals.
