Description:This two-gallon soda acid extinguisher has a cylindrical metal body, hinged handle on top, swivel action brass nozzle and hinged steel knocker on side. The extinguisher stands on a square metal base with circular recess in top for refills. Made by William Miller Limited a Glasgow based company. A great variety of metal-bodied fire extinguishers were developed from about 1900. Many were developed to deal with new problems such as electrical, motor vehicle, oil and chemical fires. This item is part of the Staffordshire Fire Service collection held within the Staffordshire County Museum collection. Extinguisher height: 390mm. Base diameter: 210mm. Stand height: 230mm. Base length: 265mm.
