Date:1820

Description:These blue silk shoes have narcissus and sweet peas or freesias hand painted on to the toes. They date from between 1815-1825. This type of pump or slipper shoe was worn as an evening shoe because the delicate fabric meant they were not suitable for out door use. They were fastened to the foot with ribbons tied at the ankle.
