Date:1880

Description:Silk brocade dress trimmed with glass beads. The lavish brocade design includes stylised honeysuckle flowers. Honeysuckle often symbolised fidelity, affection and love. It could also represent enjoyment and excess, possibly because of its heady scent. The high neck, tight fitting bodice and high shoulders were very fashionable during the 1880s. The skirt would have been supported by a bustle and petticoats. This dress belonged to the Landor family of Rugeley.
