Description:Douglas Hayward and his wife Hazel operating puppets at the Staffordshire County Museum, Shugborough where Douglas's acts were filmed for the Staffordshire County Museum Archive in 2004. Hazel holds the Skater while Douglas shows the Trumpet Player.

Douglas Hayward had already been a touring puppet player from the 1950s when he set up the Marionette Theatre and Puppet Museum at Abbots Bromley in 1975. When the theatre closed in 1993 the collection moved to the Staffordshire County Museum at Shugborough, where Douglas continued to help and advise until his death in December 2011.
