Description:A view of the south front of Alton Towers, showing the Drawing Room block and Conservatory. Alton Towers was the home of the Talbot family, Earls of Shrewsbury. It was built between about 1810 and 1852.

This block was built to designs by Thomas Hopper and Thomas Allason between about 1811 and 1820. The upper floor and top two storeys of the towers were added by A.W.N. and E.W. Pugin between about 1849 and 1856. The Conservatory was designed by Thomas Hopper and built between 1815 and 1819.
