Description:Consall Flint Mill was built by John Leigh (the Lord of the Manor) in the 1830s and the site was complete by 1845. At this time there were three iron waterwheels and 17 or 18 flint grinding pans. The water supply was the Caldon Canal (seen to the left in this photograph). By the 1960s, when the flint mill was still supplying ground flint for the ceramic industry in the Potteries, a water turbine had replaced the waterwheels. Associated with the mill were 8 storage arks by the canal, 6 calcining kilns, a blacksmith's shop, cottage, office and workshop.
