Description:Thomas Bolton & Sons set up a copper works at nearby Oakamoor in 1852-3. By 1890 there was no more room for expansion at Oakamoor so they began building at Froghall. Major extensions followed in the 1930s, and in 1940 Froghall became the company headquarters. The works made copper wire, strip, sheet, bar, rod and tube, as well as machined components for the electrical and engineering industries.
On the left is the Bolt Mill, built in 1900. Next is the Clock Tower building which housed the works manager, cashier, general office and time office. In the centre with the smaller chimney is the Electrolytic Works, completed in 1890. Next is the boiler house and chimney and then the Power House.
