Description:The Elephant and Castle public house at no. 7 Gaol Square had stood on this site for many years.
In 1906 David Lloyd-George, the Liberal leader, made an election speech from the upper window of the building on the right, which once housed the Gaol Square Library. In the 1920s and 1930s this building was Bentley's bakery.
