Description:A group photograph taken at Horton Lodge, 2 July 1892,on the occasion of a vist by the Rt Hon A. J. Balfour MP (later Prime Minister) to Leek to speak in the case of Charles Bill MP.

Stephen Chesters Thomson was a member of the Chesters brewing family of Manchester. He built Horton Lodge 1890 lived there until 1893. He was a prominent Conservative politician in Manchester and acted as agent for Arthur Balfour.
