Date:1900 - 1910 (c.)

Description:The Tabernacle Congregational Church was built to replace an earlier building. The architects were William Sugden and Son of Leek. The foundation stone was laid in October 1881, with the first service was held on June 21st 1883. The church could accommodate 1050 worshippers. The membership in 1907 was noted to be 424, with 665 scholars in the Sunday School.

The church was built in red brick and had very large windows, to help combat the murky atmosphere of Hanley at the time. The last service was held on 23rd February 1964 and the building was later demolished.
