Description:The Rev. Palmer was rector of St. Mary's Church. He endowed two almshouses in Smoakey Lane, now Martin Street, for the poor of Stafford in 1683. By the nineteenth century the buildings had been exchanged for the two cottages in Broad Street.
No. 15 was of timber framed construction, but no. 16 was painted to look timber framed. The buildings were demolished in 1963 and the site is now occupied by the Stafford College extension.
A memorial to the Rev. Palmer can be found in the Lady Chapel of St. Mary's Church.
