Description:Bolebridge Railway viaduct was built to carry the Birmingham to Derby Railway and is known locally as the Nineteen Arches. It was officially opened on 4th August 1839 by George Stephenson driving his engine, Tamworth, over it. The Victorian brick and iron bridge, that can be seen to the left of the photograph, was built to replace the medieval Bolebridge, which was demolished in 1877 following a severe accident.
