Description:This postcard view shows a house which is thought to be 112 Lichfield Road, Stafford.

On the left of the picture there is a woman standing in the bay window looking towards the photographer. This is probably Mrs Annie Lovell Caulfield wife of the Reverend St. George Henry Wardsford Caulfield. Mrs Caulfield has written a message on the reverse: “This is my home – I am in the window! Very badly taken – light – bad. A.C”.

On the front gate the house number is 112 and on the extreme left of the picture there is a building with an elaborate carved gable. The gable and the front gate are similar to those in a view of the former Vicarage which was next to St. Paul’s Church. In later years the Vicarage has changed and currently (June 2021) the building is occupied by St. John’s Ambulance.

The house in the picture was later demolished and several houses were built on both sides of the Lichfield Road between the Vicarage and the junction with Riverway. Around the time of the redevelopment several of the houses in this area were renumbered and number 112 moved to the opposite side of the road.

This postcard was franked in Stafford on 25 May 1911 and sent to an address in Hove, Brighton.
