Description:This quotation appears in the memorial stained glass window dedicated to the memory of locally-born poet Thomas Ernest Hulme, killed in action in 1917. The quote is taken from The Commendment of the Book of Common Prayer, which was found written on a piece of paper in the pocket of Hulme's uniform at the time of his death.
