Description:This is probably one of the most recognizable postcards of Brocton Camp and shows so many facets of what went on there. In the foreground the troops are digging trenches, an important training experience of what the recruits will experience on the virtual stalemate of the Western Front. Not all the trenches were dug full size but you can see sand bags along the edge of part of the trench.
Between the huts and the trenches are masses of troops congregating in their sections for more instruction as they had so much to get through during their stay. Tents are visible to the right which may mean the Camp is not yet fully complete and it is in the latter stages of construction.
"O" Lines is in front of the Water Tower and between the four tall chimneys of the Power Station is the long roof line of the Ordnance Depot.
Wherever there was disturbance of the ground, by digging of trenches for example, the bilberry plant would colonize over time and it is a good indicator of the Camp remains to this day.
