Description:Pictured in her Women's Auxiliary Army Corps uniform is Gladys Harvey of Rugeley. She was enrolled on 13th September 1917 and discharged on 19th October 1919. She worked as a waitress at Brocton Camp canteen. Gladys was born in Rugeley on 29 September 1894 and died on 15 May 1977.

No doubt many of the soldiers and members of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps had their photographs taken to send home to their families. Many of the postcards at the time show W.A.A.C.s on the Camp following the formation of the Corps in March 1917. They had a number of huts at Brocton converted into a hospital for them. The nearby hospital at Brindley was primarily for men; it did have a women's area but this was for sick nurses in the Isolation Hospital.
