Description:This British Rail Derby Lightweight train with yellow whiskers ('cat’s whiskers') on the cab front is pictured standing at the south end of platform 2 at Stafford Station before departing for Birmingham. British Rail introduced Derby Lightweight Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs) from 1954.

On the left there are several roofs which are thought to be part of the adjacent Post Office Sorting Office and on the right there is a glimpse of the Station Hotel which was demolished in 1972.
