Description:A view north towards the top end of Caroline Street from the Upper Cross Street (left) and Anchor Passage area (to the right). Many of the houses are boarded up prior to demolition and the area to the right has already been cleared. The corner newsagent and tobacconist has a wall advert for Stephens fountain pen ink. It's in the form of a wall thermometer (in degrees Fahrenheit). The road at the top is Anchor Place. The two houses in the photograph remain although the gas street lamps have disappeared.
