Description:During the demolition of the house, an old well shaft was discovered under the floor of the internal passageway near the butler's pantry, indicating that it is older than this part of the building and possibly predates the earlier building being demolished. It is known that a previous building stood on the site. 17th Century O.S. Maps indicate an outside well in this area.
