Description:A group of Red Cross V.A.D. (Voluntary Aid Detachment) nurses seated outside the south facing windows of Ravenhill House during World War I. The house was used as a convalescent hospital for military personnel. It was financially supported and staffed by local people. The Commandant was Miss Lambert and the matron was Mrs Hatton. Note the dog in the centre of the front row.
