Description:The English Electric Co. had many large manufacturing sites around the United Kingdom with their own Fire Brigades and over the years held annual inter-works competitions for the Fire Crews. Pictured are two teams with their hoses aimed at competition targets. During the day the Stafford Works Fire Brigade competed against teams from Chelmsford, Luton and Rugby. The events took place at Stychfields sports field, adjacent to the Stafford Works. In the background the houses are in Sabine Street, which formed part of a housing estate built for employees of the company and for many years locally known as Siemens Colony.
