Description:A broadsheet detailing the trial and execution of George Bentley of Mill Meece, near Eccleshall.
Bentley was convicted of the murder of John Poole of Croxton, at Walk Mill at Offley Brook, near Eccleshall. He was hanged at Stafford Gaol on 27 March 1866.
The engraving shows the portable gallows which was wheeled out of the Gaol gatehouse into Gaol Road to enable the public to view the hanging.
