Description:Three women painting dolls’ heads for use in toy manufacture. The Edwardian period saw a rise in popularity in toy dolls with ceramic painted heads, as they became cheaper to mass produce.
The women work in a light and airy workshop. Women were often used in this line of work as they were considered to possess delicate skills needed to paint intricate detail.
