Description:The Elite Cinema decorated with flags and banners to celebrate the Queen's coronation. The film showing is "A Queen is crowned".

The 900 seat cinema was built by Messr Ward and Godbehere for Mr F.P. Birch and Mrs F.W. Stebbings. It opened on 9th September 1935 showing 'Bright Eyes', with Shirley Temple. By 1976 the main area was a bingo hall, the balcony a 120 seat cinema. In 2004 the whole building was a Pentecostal Church.
