Date:9th of January 1913

Description:Stafford Volunteer Fire Brigade, established in 1877, on the grammar school playing field. The school building can be seen in the background.

The horse-drawn, steam powered engine was named 'Elizabeth' and the motor driven fire engine 'Catherine'. This could have been a demonstration of the new 'Catherine' engine.

Included in the photograph are Serg. Astles, Serg. Emberton, Corp. Haywood, Corp. Thorpe, Johnson, Wright, Jos Swingwood, James Swingwood, Catwright, Wiggin, and Brettell.
