Description:The Militia was a part-time volunteer force similar to the Territorial Army today. In 1881 the King’s Own Staffordshire Militia was incorporated into the two County Regiments, forming the 3rd and 4th Battalions of each Regiment. They were then based on Whittington Barracks and sometimes held their annual training camps or special events on Whittington Heath.
