Description:Through its history the Staffordshire Regiment has been involved in many campaigns and wars and has been stationed in many parts of the world. Here members of the 6th Battalion are seen resting behind the enemy line. The 1st North Staffords went to France in September 1914 – as part of the British Expeditionary Force of the Regular Army – ‘the Old Contemptibles’. From October 1915 to April 1916 they were in the Ypres area. The alternate view is a digitally colourised version of the image.
