Cheddleton Railway Station

Date:1960

Description:This is a film taken around 1960 by Alan Williamson of Endon. It shows the station at Cheddleton, near Leek, and typical scenes of a train coming in, the mail being deposited, children on the platform and the train departing. Very valuable scenes that were filmed before the end of the steam era. This station – Cheddleton – is now the headquarters of the Churnet Valley Railway, which still runs trains from this very spot along the line down into the Churnet Valley.

This film also features in the documentary; “The Knotty – the story of the North Staffordshire Railway”, produced by Ray Johnson.
