Norton infants School

Date:1941

Description:This film was made in 1941 by Mr Fred Ogden, the headmaster of Norton School. There is Mr Ogden and there is the date on the blackboard. And one of the children featured in the film is Jean Turner, mother of TV personality Anthea Turner. There are typical scenes in the school through a school day. As this is wartime it also features air raid practice. So it’s a valuable record of a typical school day in the early 1940s. Norton School was a particularly progressive school ad many people have fond memories of it. So – just a little glimpse of a ten minute film showing a day in the life of Norton School.

This film also features in the documentary; “Stoke-on-Film, 1940s”, produced by Ray Johnson.
